Abstract
This report describes a project plan to define the requirements for the underwater Vector
Sensor Acquisition System (VSAS) which is to be developed. This system will acquire
signals from multiple accelerometer sensors and a hydro-acoustic pressure sensor based on
a piezoelectric ceramic. The acquisition system will be composed of a micro-controller for
acquisition, storage and streaming of the data, a multi-channel analog to digital converter,
a solid state flash storage device, Ethernet and serial for communication and a power
supply from batteries. The acquisition system and the batteries are to be integrated into
an underwater container with external underwater connectors for the various sensors and
for communication.
