Abstract
This document describes the realisation of a Dual Accelerometer Vector Sensor (DAVS), which is part of work which was carried out within the Distributed Sensor Array concept developed under WiMUST. The device is a vector sensor, which can become an alternative to the classical towed array hydrophones, currently used in Distributed Sensor Arrays. This report describes the design and the first evaluation tests of the Dual Accelerometer Vector Sensor system for sub-bottom sensing applications. This device is going to be mounted on an autonomous underwater vehicle as an add-on feature, which will allow the comparison of the DAVS results with those obtained with the classical towed array system. The DAVS can operate autonomously for short term missions.
