The following milestones are foreseen under ATOMSs:

a theoretical study on the inversion methods to apply to the acoustic data. The INTIFANTE'00 sea trial (see below) will provide a preliminary data set for this phase (see publications).
in concurrence an autonomous recording system will be developed to fit the existing ULVA system and a sound source will be purchased (see publications and images).
an engineering test for at sea test of the autonomous recording system took place in September 2002, off Lisbon.
initially a a full scale sea trial off Cape São Vicente was scheduled for summer 2002. However due to the unavailability of NRP D. Carlos I, one of the IH oceanographic vessel, the sea trial was postponed to summer 2003 and is now forseen for next September'03.
