The following milestones were planned under this MAST 2 project:

theoretical and simulation study: develop the techniques and methodologies for geoacoustic inversion of towed array acoustic data in shallow water using simulated data and suitable propagation models.
requirements and adaptation for towed array sensor localization: provide the necessary requirements and develop a sensor localization system being able to determine towed array sensor location adaptable to the existing NURC Prakla array and within the required precision for the geoacoustic inversion algorithms.
full scale sea trial and data analysis: a testing experiment to take place in the southern coast of Sicily during a foreseen NURC experiment.
conclusion and perspectives: conclusions on the system real world performance at sea. Possible improvements and suggestions for developing a commercial implementation of the system. Scientific publications and presentations at international conferences.
