ICRA (IEO), Mazarron (Spain)- Red tuna tanks

Three 20+ m diameter x 10 m deep salted water tanks. Water is constantly renewed for the survival of tens of 120+ Kg red tuna, plus a series of other smaller, still growing.

DAVS1 was vertically mounted head down on a unused turbine hole in the tank wall

Tuna were constantly circulating around the tank, passing in front of the DAVS1 receiver and over the SIMRAD echosounder in the bottom, closeby.

Then the DAVS1 sensor was installed on the bottom platform, pointing up, to the passing tuna school, as it can be seen in the picture.

Red tuna sacrificing Balfegó Ametlla del Mar (Spain)

Off Ametlla del Mar, red tuna aquaculture installation of a large number of floating cages approximately 30 m deep.

The objective was to record "lupara" shots done by specialized divers, during red tuna sacrificing

Divers haul shot tuna to processing boat

Tuna are measured, weighted, sliced, evicesrated, sampled and put in ice.
